Terms and conditions of use

1. Service operator and contact

Play The Map is operated by VIRTUAL ART VFX & 3D, S.L., Spanish tax ID B98930902, registered address at Av. Pianista Martínez Carrasco, 4, door 20, 46026 Valencia (Spain). The company is registered with the Valencia Companies Registry in volume 10316, book 7597, folio 195, section 8, sheet V-177356.

The service is provided through playthemap.com, related pages and the official mobile app. For enquiries, incidents, complaints or legal notices, contact admin@playthemap.com or the postal address above.

2. Scope and acceptance

These terms govern access to and use of Play The Map by visitors, registered travellers, municipal staff and administrative users. Specific municipal or professional services may have additional terms, which prevail only for that relationship.

Public content can be explored without an account. Registration requires acceptance of the current Terms and Privacy Policy. Separate, informed confirmation is required for features such as background location, private groups or Safe Route.

3. Age and capacity

Accounts for children under 14 are not enabled. Users aged 14 to 17 should use the service with appropriate parental or guardian awareness and supervision and must not activate a feature where they cannot lawfully provide the required authorisation.

People acting for a council, company or organisation confirm that they are authorised to do so.

4. What Play The Map provides

• Discovery of municipalities, places, interactive videos, routes and challenges through search and an internal map.
• User accounts, favourites, trip preparation, enrolments, passport, badges, coins, memories and preferences.
• On Android, when enabled: navigation, GPS route recording, check-ins, validated photos, proximity alerts, private groups, trusted contacts and safety features.
• Role- and municipality-based workspaces with server-side authorisation.

5. Routes, location and safety

Route, difficulty, duration, accessibility, swimming, weather, coverage and terrain information can change. Check signs, authorities, forecasts and actual conditions before starting.

Location depends on the device, GPS, battery, permissions, coverage and operating system and may be inaccurate, delayed or interrupted. Respect closures, private property, environmental rules and your abilities.

SOS, Safe Route, Scheduled SOS and Accompany Me are supplementary tools. They do not automatically call 112 and cannot guarantee receipt or human intervention. In a real emergency, call 112 or the appropriate emergency service as soon as possible.

6. Account, devices and roles

Users must provide accurate data, protect credentials and keep their email current. They can review devices, close all sessions on a device, close other sessions and delete the account through the available controls.

Municipal, administrative and safety accounts are personal and must not be shared or used outside the authorised organisation and role. Sensitive access may be audited.

7. Acceptable use

• Do not access accounts, municipalities, locations or restricted areas without permission.
• Do not probe, overload, interfere with, automate abusively or circumvent security and limits.
• Do not upload malware, false or unlawful content, or material infringing privacy, reputation, intellectual property or safety.
• Do not use location, groups, invitations, contacts or alerts to harass, monitor, impersonate, deceive or harm.
• Do not scrape the catalogue, resell the service or commercially exploit protected data or artwork without permission.

8. User and municipal content

Anyone uploading photos, routes, text or other material confirms that they may lawfully use it. They retain ownership and grant Play The Map a non-exclusive licence limited to hosting, processing and displaying it under their settings, creating requested memories and providing the service.

Councils and authorised contributors are responsible for the accuracy, rights and currency of their publications. Play The Map may review, hide or remove material for legal, safety, quality, privacy or compliance reasons. Report concerns to admin@playthemap.com.

9. Challenges, badges, coins and rewards

Points, badges, levels and coins are personal platform progress. They are not electronic money, a bank balance, an investment or transferable property and cannot be exchanged for cash.

A reward is available only when the provider, stock, validity, requirements and redemption conditions are expressly displayed. Accumulating coins does not guarantee future discounts. Fraud, duplicates and technical errors may be corrected with appropriate traceability.

10. Intellectual property

The software, brand, visual design, proprietary maps, text, videos, illustrations, badges, databases and other elements belong to the operator or are licensed. Access grants only a personal, limited, revocable, non-exclusive and non-transferable right to use the service under these terms.

Third-party maps and content retain their notices, attribution and licences.

11. Availability, changes and suspension

We may fix, update or retire features to maintain security, comply with law or improve the product. Reasonable advance notice will be given for material changes to an ongoing service unless urgent security or external circumstances prevent it.

Accounts may be restricted for suspected fraud, unauthorised access, risk to people, breach or valid legal request. Where possible, we will explain the reason and review route. Mandatory consumer rights remain unaffected.

12. Liability

Play The Map remains liable as required by law and does not exclude liability that cannot lawfully be excluded. It is not responsible for reckless decisions, ignored signs, misuse, inaccurate third-party data or external failures of GPS, devices, networks, platforms or public services.

External links and app launches are identified. Place and route viewing uses the internal map; leaving for another service must be a separate user action.

13. Municipal and professional services

A public municipality application does not automatically create an account, workspace or contract. Verification and approval are required. Trial, activation, renewal, support and future paid terms are documented separately with each entity.

14. Governing law and complaints

Spanish law applies. Contact admin@playthemap.com first if you wish to seek an amicable solution. Consumers retain all mandatory rights and competent courts, including those at their place of residence. For professional relationships, unless mandatory law or specific terms provide otherwise, the courts of Valencia shall have jurisdiction.

If one clause is invalid, it will be adjusted only as necessary without affecting the remainder. Failure to enforce a right is not a waiver.

15. Changes to these terms

Each update displays its date and version. Material changes affecting registered users will be communicated reasonably and renewed acceptance will be requested where required. The accepted version remains recorded with the account consent.
